MAIDUGURI – At least five communities of Ladin Buta near
Khaddamari village of Jere Local Government Area of Borno state have been taken
over and destroyed by suspected members of dreaded boko haram sect who were
armed with Ak47 rifles and petrol bombs including Improvised Explosive Devices
(IEDs).
The sect members, according to reliable security source and
fleeing residents, invaded the communities around 7pm on Tuesday and set ablaze
many houses after killing 13 residents and injurying scores of others.
Khaddamari village is an outskirt north and a stone throw
community to Maiduguri Metropolis which has suffered series of Boko Haram’s
attacks in the past. A policeman attached to Jere Division who did not want his
name mentioned confirmed the deadly attack and destruction of houses in the
communities, according to him, he was at his duty post when they received a
distress call that Boko Haram sect had invaded the surrounding communities of
Khaddamari.
He said, they were helpless as there were no reinforcement
from the military to repel the night attack, pointing out that, until this
morning (Wednesday) that the Divisional Police Officer ordered his men to visit
the areas. The police source revealed that after visiting the scene of the
incident, the police recovered 13 dead bodies of residents with scores injured
with bullet wounds and burns they sustained from the rampaging sect, adding
that almost all the houses and structures in the affected communities were
destroyed with no any arrest. All effort to get confirmation from both police
