News; EFCC arrest pastor of RCCG a PDP governorship aspirant in Edo State

One of the aspirants for the PDP flagbearer in Edo State, Nigeria, who is Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, has been arrested by the EFCC.


 His arrest came shortly after undergoing a screening process by the committee of the PDP in Benin city, the state capital, The Nation reports.

 It was gathered that EFCC officials had stormed the PDP secretariat where they waited for the committee to screen Ize-Iyamu, before taking him away in an unmarked white Hilux van.

Ize-Iyamu, the former Secretary to the Government (SSG) was taken to EFCC zonal head office in Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital, for questioning. 

Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, has his passport seized by officials of the anti-graft agency. Ize-Iyamu was among the three PDP governorship aspirants who were screened by the committee chaired by the former Minister of Education, Prof. Tunde Adenirun.


The two others also screened included Hon. Matthew Iduoriyekemwen and Chief Solomon Edebiri. Ize-Iyamu, a pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) was invited by the EFCC to its Port Harcourt office among other key leaders of the PDP in the state in connection with the N700 million arms deal allegedly shared by the party leaders during last year’s presidential election.
