News; Militant shot sporadically at Ogun state Deputy Governor and entourage

A group of militant that has been in the news for carrying out attacks in Ogun State has halted the movement of the deputy governor of the state and his convoy. The deputy governor Mrs. Yetunde Onanuga was prevented from accessing a part Ebute-Ibafo in Obafemi Owode local government, according to the Nation.
Following the arrival of the deputy governor and her entourage close to the creeks through which the militant operate, the militants opened fire on them and shot sporadically. Although the soldiers and police opened fire, the trip was aborted  

The convoy had the Bridgade Commander, 35 Artillery Army Bridgade, Alamala Barack, Abeokuta, Brigadier – General Mohammed Danqalis, the Director of the Department of State Service(DSS), Ogun state Command, Mr Kabiru Sanni, Deputy Commissioner of Police(Operations), Mr Bello Makwashi, Secretary to the State Government Taiwo Adeoluwa, Commisdioner for Information and Orientation, Dayo Adeneye, the Baale of Ebute – Ibafo, Chief Afolorunsho Balogun, the Olu of Imusin, Oba Taiwo Adebunmi Bamgbose and five other traditional rulers

With respect to the attack, the Secretary to the State Government Adeoluwa urged the Federal Government to urgently constitute a military task force like the one in the Niger Delta to tackle the militants. Adeoluwa said that if top gov’t functionaries cannot reach to some part of the state, the federal gov’t has to get involved. Stressing on the issue, she added that this is beyond the police and that a major military task force should be set up like the one in Niger Delta region.

“We all can see, we were in Elepete, Igbo Olomu, Imagbon, Imuti, nothing compared to the violence there. You all heard the shooting, this is something that should be a source of worry to everybody and we think the Federal Government should come to our aid,” Adeoluwa said.
